Fish,

If he won it I think it might be the greatest poker accomplishment in history.

I am rooting for Phil Ivey. He needs to stay away from AQ....

I agree, that'd be insane. But Phil Ivey needs to win, him or Raymer.

Ku, why ain't you there? And don't say it was cuz of work, cuz god knows you don't do shit anyway. And don't say cuz of the GF either, cuz god knows you could care less about that. I'm disappointed. And where you at in the Harry Potter thread? Juice and I are making thread history here...everyone's a closet harry potter fan, they just don't know it yet.

Even if he makes final table, might be greatest poker accomplishment in history. Better than harrington 3rd and 4th finishes in 03, 04, and Chan back to back to runner-up 87-89!!!!!!!!!!!!

LUCK Racer X 100% LUCK..you can be the greatest player like doyle brunson but if you do not pick up cards you get nothing...its 100% luck with raymer IMO ..the way this guy is getting cards like AA and QQ a few times ANYONE from the street can win the WSOP getting all these good cards..NO SKILL involved

Where's Matasow? I'm sure everyone would love to see a Raymer/Matasow showdown.

Online ain't the only poker that's rigged.

I'm still convinced that Moneymaker was "allowed" to win in '03, for the "good of the game".

Dante Luv Ya Man But

You`re wrong here. Of course he`s had his share of luck but they all have. There is far more luck involved than most will admit. There`s a fine line between the top 30 or so players in the world, skill wise. So yes luck IS a big part, but this guy`s style of play is passive/agressive, agressive/passive and he switches back and forth very nicely. His demeanor is calm and he`s courteous to the other players. I think he`s genuine and will be around for a long time. I hope he or Lederer win it.

Dante,

Everyone in the tourny is picking up hands... There was 5600 people in the tourny and its been going on for days. U don't think each player has picked up premium hands multipule times... A great deal of skill and luck is needed to win a tourny of this size. Everyone left, I am sure has sucked out or had a rush to still be in it. Have to give the guy credit.

Dante you could make the same arguement with Doyle Brunson. In 76 Doyle had 10 2 vs Jesse Alto A J. Flop comes A J 10. Jesse bets Doyle goes all-in,(probably worst all in, in finals history) 2 on turn ten on river, perfect perfect. Doyle wins first world series. In 77 Doyle 10 2 vs Bones Berland 8 5. Flop comes 10 8 5, Doyle again makes a full house and wins his second world series. That's alot of luck also.

I think it is about 40% skill and 60% luck in the WSOP....

If anyone gets a chance, read the book "The Professor, The Banker, and the Suicide King". It's about the biggest cash game ever played.

If Raymer were to ever sit at a cash table with Ted Forest, Barry Greenstein, Howard Ledderer, and Doyle Brunson for 24 hours, i can virtually guarantee you that at the end of the 24 hours the only thing Raymer will have left is those crazy glasses....

Got to give Raymer his props. The fact that he's chip leader this late in the tourney proves that last year was no Moneymaker fluke

Granted this is a lucky rush he is on in this tourney to have the chip lead, however it does take some skill to know how to get the most out of those hands by throwing out proper "teaser" races and what not. He is a damn good player, there is no questioning that. He was nowhere near as lucky on cards as Moneymaker was the year before. Lost in the shuffle is all the hands we don't get to see on TV. Those are very important also and are often what seperates the best from the wannabees. I think you are shortchanging this guys ability drastically.
